For my ISU topic I researched the caste system, which is a type of social stratification system that divides society based off of their unalterable social status which they are born into. For my case studies, I focused in on India, Somalia, and Japan. I chose these regions because the issues of the caste system are currently prevalent in very few countries, and these regions are of great concern. Not only is the structure of the system inhumane, but the ramifications of this structure mean many cases of human rights abuse. Throughout my ISU, I highlighted the pressing issues that the system causes and what people face on a daily basis as an outcast of society.
