CULTURAL DISCRIMINATION AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE REFUGEE CRISIS

____________________________________________________________________

Refugees are people who leave their country due cultural prosecution. Case studies I have researched are current events of groups who have been targeted due to ethnic differences that result in high immigration rates. First, the current issue in Northern Iraq where Yazidi people are being murdered and enslaved, creating several displaced Yazidis in refugee camps. Another case study I may use is the prosecution against the Rohingya Muslim community in Myanmar (formerly Burma). The Myanmar government has been destroying around 345 Rohingya communities and villages by bulldozing or setting fires, leaving the persecuted Rohingya Muslims displaced. Another case is in South Sudan, a six year old country being torn apart by ethnic tensions between Nuer group and Dinka resulting in crippling violence and over 2.3 million being displaced.
