This ISU brings to light how children are taken from their families when recruited into military organizations such as state armed forces as well as non-state armed groups, and the possible solutions to bring an end to this worldwide problem and the rehabilitation for the children who manage survive and escape from their time in combat . This Independent Study Unit focuses in on the use of children in combat in Colombia, the East Asian/ Pacific region, Uganda and South Sudan, and even Canada’s own history with using child soldiers.
