CLIMATE CHANGE

____________________________________________________________________

Patches of sand in the Sahara Desert can be seen blanketed by snow for the first time in 37 years. Plants and animals are becoming extinct a hundred times faster than they were a thousand years ago. From 2000-2010, a glacier in Greenland retreated nine miles, while it had only retreated eight miles from 1900-2000. These are the results of climate change: it is the warming as well as the freezing of the planet, all the while harming living species and worsening earth’s already harmful natural disasters. For my ISU, I felt as if India, the Arctic, and the Great Barrier Reef were all three studies that would fairly demonstrate the global effects of this pressing issue. I chose this topic in particular because climate change is such an ignored problem by such a vast percentage of the world population, and I hope to become an advocate for a victim that can’t speak for itself. Enjoy.
